Abracs is the brand. ProFlex, Black Edition, Phoenix II, Trade, Pro, PRO-X and Expert are Abracs range names or quality levels. They do not form one universal ladder across every product, so compare them within the correct product family.

This guide explains the practical differences and helps you choose the right disc for the material, machine and job.

Abracs ranges at a glance

Product family Everyday value Step-up / premium Specialist name to know
Cutting & grinding discs ProFlex — 3 Star Phoenix II — 5 Star Black Edition — high-performance extra-thin INOX cutting discs
Flap discs Trade Al/Ox — 3 Star Pro Zirconium — 4 Star
Expert Ceramic — 5 Star
Choose the abrasive grain for the material and workload
Diamond blades Trade — 3 Star Pro / PRO-X — 4 Star
Expert — 5 Star
PRO-X is an application-led 4 Star range, not simply a grade above Pro

Important: star ratings are most useful when comparing products in the same Abracs family. The correct material, diameter, bore, thickness, machine speed and application come first.

Cutting and grinding discs

ProFlex — 3 Star

Best for: dependable everyday trade cutting and grinding where value and cost per cut matter.

ProFlex is Abracs’ professional-value range. It is a sensible choice for routine fabrication, maintenance and workshop work. Always select the correct ProFlex disc for the material and whether you are cutting or grinding.

Phoenix II — 5 Star

Best for: frequent professional use where cutting speed, accuracy, lower vibration and working life justify a premium disc.

Phoenix II is Abracs’ premium cutting and grinding range. Abracs describes its extra-thin discs as fast and precise, with a strengthened core designed to reduce vibration. Pick this range when performance and cost over the full working life matter more than the lowest initial price.

Black Edition

Best for: fast, precise, extra-thin cutting of stainless steel and sheet material, using the exact INOX-rated product specified for the job.

Black Edition is best understood as a high-performance, application-focused extra-thin cutting disc within the Phoenix family—not as a separate quality ladder that automatically sits above every other Abracs product. It is aimed at clean, quick cuts with minimal effort. For general cutting or grinding, compare the exact Black Edition, ProFlex and Phoenix II product specifications rather than choosing by colour alone.

ProFlex, Black Edition or Phoenix II?

  • Choose ProFlex for reliable everyday performance and strong value.
  • Choose Black Edition when the job specifically calls for a high-performance extra-thin INOX cutting disc.
  • Choose Phoenix II for Abracs’ premium 5 Star cutting or grinding performance.

Flap discs

Trade Aluminium Oxide — 3 Star

Best for: cost-effective general stock removal, blending and finishing on mild steel, carbon steel and alloys.

This is the everyday-value flap disc. Aluminium oxide is a practical choice for general metal preparation and less demanding workloads.

Pro Zirconium — 4 Star

Best for: more demanding or repeated stock removal and work on stainless steel where a durable, hard-working disc is needed.

Zirconium is the step-up Abracs flap-disc grain. It is a good middle ground between the Trade aluminium-oxide range and the highest-duty ceramic products.

Expert Ceramic — 5 Star

Best for: demanding professional workloads where high removal rates and long working life matter.

Expert Ceramic is Abracs’ top flap-disc quality level for intensive stock removal, blending and finishing. Specialist Expert flap discs also exist for materials such as aluminium, so the material label still matters as much as the star rating.

Diamond blades

Trade — 3 Star

Best for: value-led general construction cutting. Abracs’ general-construction Trade blade is intended for materials including concrete, brick, natural stone and tiles.

Pro — 4 Star

Best for: faster cutting and longer life in more demanding general-construction work.

Pro is the performance step-up. The exact segment and material list vary by blade, so check the individual product before cutting reinforced or specialist materials.

PRO-X — 4 Star

Best for: demanding multi-material construction cutting, including steel and reinforced concrete where the particular PRO-X blade is approved.

PRO-X is not simply a “higher number” than Pro: it remains a 4 Star line but uses a specialist design for broad construction applications. Choose it for its stated material capability and blade design.

Expert — 5 Star

Best for: premium or specialist work where cutting performance, life and finish are the priority.

Expert is Abracs’ highest diamond-blade quality level, but it still includes material-specific products. An Expert porcelain blade and an Expert general-construction blade are designed for different jobs.

Five checks before ordering

  1. Material: stainless steel, mild steel, aluminium, concrete, reinforced concrete, brick, tile or another material.
  2. Operation: cutting, grinding, stock removal, blending, finishing or polishing.
  3. Machine: correct disc or blade diameter, bore and maximum RPM.
  4. Workload: occasional use, routine trade use or intensive production work.
  5. Total value: consider speed and useful working life as well as the purchase price.

Never use a cutting disc for side grinding. Follow the tool and abrasive safety instructions and use the correct personal protective equipment.
